Evangelist Doris Aboh, a prominent indigene of Amai Kingdom and Nigerian Christian evangelist, has been named Special Guest of Honour for the Anioma Watch Association’s maternal care and antenatal outreach programme in Amai, Delta State.
The announcement was contained in a statement made available in Asaba by the President of Anioma Watch Association, Chief Abela Emuebie Ihienkaeghor, alongside other prominent community leaders involved in the initiative.
The Anioma Watch Association, a registered socio-cultural organisation representing Anioma people at home and in the Diaspora, is currently implementing a maternal care programme aimed at supporting expectant mothers across selected Anioma communities.
Aboh’s appointment adds a notable community dimension to the Amai leg of the programme, as she is expected to attend the outreach and support the Association’s efforts to improve maternal and child welfare in the community.
Other community leaders have also been appointed to support the programme in their respective communities. Chief Angus Obima-Nwali
and Chief Mrs. Rosemary Ibude, Oso Diya Eri are to participate in the Agbor edition, while Sir Patrick Anibuofu Ejidoh, President-General of the Onicha-Olona Development Union, has been named Special Guest for the Onicha-Olona outreach.
The programme has already reached communities including Ibusa and Issele-Uku. On Monday, the Omu of Ibusa, HRH Obi Josephine Nwannabuogwu, oversaw the outreach in Ibusa, where she advised expectant mothers to raise their children responsibly and nurture them to become productive contributors to community development.
At the Ibusa outreach, expectant mothers received maternal and child-care items intended to support them during pregnancy and after delivery.
The Association has so far visited the Primary Health Care Centre in Ibusa and Pilgrim Baptist Hospital in Issele-Uku, where maternal-care items were distributed to expectant women.
The outreach is expected to continue in Onicha-Olona, Agbor and Amai, with expectant mothers in the beneficiary communities scheduled to receive mother-and-child starter packs.
The initiative reflects the Association’s growing focus on community-based social interventions, particularly programmes designed to support mothers, children and vulnerable families across Anioma communities.
